Medical Malpractice
Jeffrey Friedman represented a diabetic patient who presented to his
podiatrist and his internist with a foot ulcer. After months of treatment,
the ulcer did not heal and the patient required an amputation of his
leg below the knee. The patient alleged that his ulcer worsened as a
result of the failure of the doctors to use reasonable care in treating
it. The case settled prior to jury selection for $1,000,000.
Mr. Friedman represented a hypertensive, diabetic patient who was given
a medication that allegedly caused him to suffer an allergic reaction.
The patient received a structured settlement guaranteeing paymens for
the remainder of his life, and having a present value of $400,000.
Jeffrey Friedman successfully tried a medical malpractice case on behalf
of a patient who underwent multiple plastic surgeries which left him
with decreased breathing capacity and a disfigured nose. The doctor
denied wrongdoing and contended that the surgeries were medically appropriate
and were requested by the patient. The jury awarded $245,000 to the
patient.

Products Liability
Mr. Friedman represented a truck driver who fell from the rear of his trailer
at his work site. The driver claimed that the design of the trailer and the
method for tarping his trailer caused him to fall. The case settled prior
to trial for $1,045,000.
Legal Malpractice
Jeffrey Friedman represented a union member who was injured on his job and
then hired an attorney to represent him in a personal injury lawsuit. When
his first lawyer missed an important deadline, the case was dismissed. Mr.
Friedman brought suit against his first lawyer alleging legal malpractice
in allowing the personal injury case to be dismissed. The case settled before
trial for $465,000.
Employment Discrimination/Sexual Harassment
Jeffrey Friedman represented four female employees of a leading Chicago area
restaurant chain who alleged that they experienced sexual harassment in the
course of their employment. A federal jury awarded the women a total of $3,250,000
after trial. This verdict was widely publicized by the Chicago area press
and employment law publications.
Class Actions
Mr. Friedman filed and then was appointed class counsel in a leading case
of gender discrimination against a grocery store chain. The case settled prior
to trial for a total award of $9,650,000.
